Join us for a unique gathering that invites yoga students to take their practice beyond the mat. These special classes blend the ancient traditions of yoga and meditation with the transformative power of literature, offering a deeper exploration of both body and mind.
In The Gifts of Imperfection, Brené Brown, PhD, a leading expert on shame, authenticity and belonging, shares what she's learned from a decade of research on the power of Wholehearted Living--a way of engaging with the world from a place of worthiness. In her ten guideposts, Brown engages our minds, hearts, and spirits as she explores how we can cultivate the courage, compassion, and connection to wake up in the morning and think, No matter what gets done and how much is left undone, I am enough, and to go to bed at night thinking, Yes, I am sometimes afraid, but I am also brave. And, yes, I am imperfect and vulnerable, but that doesn't change the truth that I am worthy of love and belonging.
Each 75-minute session will include: 25-30 minutes of group discussion, where we’ll share our personal insights and experiences from the readings, 30 minutes of gentle yoga to ground and connect with your body, and ending with a short guided meditation related to the teachings of the book, creating a space for quiet reflection. . This is an opportunity to connect with others while exploring how the guideposts in the book resonate within your own life. Whether it’s your first time reading the book or you’re revisiting its wisdom, you’ll find a welcoming space for personal growth and meaningful conversation. No need to worry about keeping pace—each class stands alone as a session of self-care and self-study. You can read at your own pace or simply come to absorb the teachings in class. Reading the book is not required to participate and enjoy the experience. Whether you’re new to yoga or a seasoned practitioner, this book club offers a supportive space for your mind and spirit to grow. Let’s journey together through texts that elevate our understanding of ourselves and the world around us. Come deepen your practice in a new way—on and off the mat!
